BalkanID Copilot: Supercharge identity security and lifecycle management
AI-powered offering that works with customers' existing IGA tooling & Infrastructure
Austin, TX - May 01, 2024 – BalkanID, the leader in intelligent identity security and governance, today announced the launch of BalkanID Copilot: an evolutionary approach to breaking data silos using natural language. This new capability provides security insights and recommendations while enabling governance and lifecycle management activities. BalkanID Copilot uses the state of the art LLMs to facilitate fast queries and deep analytics across identity data stores.
BalkanID Copilot is central to the company’s vision to “empower customers to proactively detect, prioritize, and remediate identity risks." Its capabilities fall into three main categories: The first is the ability to respond to natural language queries into identity related insights like over-privileged users or missing identity controls, for example. The second involves generating playbooks from a query in the form of flowcharts, text, or in popular programming languages like Python. The third involves remediation of identity risks via steps like de-provisioning, access reviews or request escalations.
BalkanID Copilot is available via two configurations: The first is a turnkey solution built on BalkanID’s own Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platform. The second is as a headless system that can be integrated with existing identity security, governance, or lifecycle management tools. This flexibility ensures that all organizations, regardless of their maturity level, can benefit from Copilot’s advanced capabilities.
“Identity security is the cornerstone of every CISO’s cyber-security plan and strategy. Current approaches to identity security can be challenged in complex environments.” said Yassir Abousselham, Former CISO at UIPath, Okta and Splunk. “I am excited to see a platform that leverages the diverse sources of identity data and AI to optimize identity workflows.”
Generative AI and large language models continue to play an important and growing role in the development of new technological capabilities. According to TechRepublic, “Many generative AI use cases coming to market for enterprises and businesses integrate with existing applications as opposed to creating completely new use cases. The most high-profile example of this is the proliferation of copilots, meaning generative AI assistants.”
This trend is prevalent in the identity security space as well. Gartner predicts that through 2026, 40% of identity and access management (IAM) leaders will take over the primary responsibility for detecting and responding to IAM-related breaches.
Rohit Agnihotri, Sr Director - Identity & Access Management Engineering at Northwestern Mutual, said, “Existing IGA products automate workflows without baselining user intent, behavior and other such telemetry, leading to churn and identity exposure. Democratizing this data with the natural language interface of BalkanID’s Copilot will enable my vision for an intelligent and integrated IGA function that does not operate in a silo.”
"We are thrilled to launch BalkanID’s Copilot, a capability that transforms how identity security and governance teams interact with their stakeholders,” said Subbu Rama, Co-founder and CEO at BalkanID. “Combining LLMs and BalkanID’s identity intelligence graph, BalkanID Copilot deciphers complex data, offering clear, detailed, ChatGPT-style responses and actionable plans to address security and compliance challenges. This evolutionary approach simplifies workforce and service identity management by either integrating with an existing identity ecosystem or as part of the BalkanID platform offering. This is a big step towards achieving our goal of autonomous identity security, governance, and lifecycle management."
